The Big Problem

Humanity has never encountered a crisis as profound as we now face. This problem threatens to end the world as we have known it and we are now beginning to realize that we may be responsible for the sixth mass extinction in the history of our planet. Civilization may collapse prior to the culmination of mass extinction if we do not heed the lessons of the past and work for a sustainable future.

The Big Problem we face is a combination of many smaller problems. These problems are interconnected and cannot be adequately addressed as individual issues. We desperately need integrative solutions to solve these integrated problems:

• Environmental degradation - pollutants are not restricted by political boundaries
• Nuclear proliferation - can destroy the world multiple times, but once is too many
• Political corruption - power and money corrupts, absolutely
• Cultural conflict - undermines cooperation amongst peoples
• Resource depletion - is beginning to destabilize the world
• Overpopulation - is like a cancer which can destroy the host

These problems need to be addressed in local, regional, national and international contexts in an intelligent  coordinated manner to be  solved. There are presently many brilliant and dedicated people working to solve these pressing issues who still need to be integrated into a more efficient and coordinated effort. Integrative Activism will work to facilitate this process.
